🌐 What is Forerunner?
Forerunner is an online platform that provides residents with up-to-date flood risk details for their property, streamlines access to Elevation Certificates, and simplifies the submission of flood-related documentation. It's designed to support compliance efforts and improve public access to critical floodplain information.
🔹 Key Features (linked where applicable):
- Search for a property's flood risk Each property has a public profile with data for homeowners, contractors, insurance agents, realtors, and more—like flood zones, Base Flood Elevation (BFE), and other flood compliance indicators.
- Find Elevation Certificates If an Elevation Certificate exists for a property, users can easily access it via the searchable page or the property's profile—saving time and cost.
- Upload Elevation Certificates Users can upload digitally signed and sealed certificates directly through the portal for building permits involving structures in FEMA-designated Flood Zones.
- Get Help Users can contact the Floodplain Management team through the "Contact Us" feature by submitting the property address and a brief message.
🔁 How It Impacts Current Processes
- Requesting/Locating Elevation Certificates Search for existing Elevation Certificates through the portal and submit requests for Elevation Certificates not found through the portal.
- Submitting Flood-Related Documents Uploads will go through the portal rather than being emailed to staff.
🗓 Key Dates
- June 23: The portal goes live for public preview and feedback.
- June 30: Official redirection begins—Forerunner becomes the primary access point and will ultimately replace the Find My Flood Zone map.
